Zhemgang is one of the remotest districts in the country. The annual Tshechu is the biggest event in the district. Different mask as well as folk dances are performed during the festival. The highlight of the festival is the unfurling of a Thongdrol of the 8th century Buddhist master, Padmasambhava. It is believed that the mere sight of the Thongdrol cleanses one of all sins. It is one of the least visited (by tourist) areas in the country.
